GIUSEPPE CORTESE
The Nebbiolo grapes produced in the Rabajà, the most prestigious of the Barbaresco Mezione Geografiche, were at the centre of the redevelopment carried out in the late 60s by Giuseppe Cortese, who made his fame and his fortune with Barbaresco wines.
The first bottle was released in 1971, and was followed in subsequent years by the acquisition of the Rabajà vineyard and the nearby Trifolera. The new generation of the family - Pier Carlo and his sister Tiziana - consolidated the growth of the business on the basis of family unity and the desire to create genuinely territorial wines. The winery overlooks one of the most delightful terraces in the Langhe: a natural amphitheatre which slopes gently down to the banks of the Tanaro.
The Corteses have recently opened a splendid B&B next to the winery: a charming building with a pool and views over the magnificent Nebbiolo vineyards.
