Tenuta Santa Caterina

Tenuta Santa Caterina

Surrounded by the wine hills of Monferrato, the estate was given a new lease of life in 2000 by Guido Carlo Alleva, who decided to return to his mother’s birthplace and continue the family tradition. Expert local craftsmen restored the building, in keeping with the old style. They refurbished the house, the porticoes, the Italian-style gardens, the stables and the original cellar, with its brick vaults; and also the infernòt carved out of the tuff 17 metres deep and listed as a UNESCO site. Also restored is a delightful Relais, immersed in plants and flowers.

The same care was applied to the restoration of 20 hectares of vineyards, which today grow native Monferrato varieties. The wines rest and age in French oak barriques and Slovenian oak casks. After touring the winery, you’ll be shown into the stables to enjoy a tasting session of the Tenuta Santa Caterina wines and discover the secrets of the local terroir.
