COPPO
More than a century of history, vineyards in the most prestigious areas of Monferrato; the Underground Cathedrals: this, in a nutshell, is the Coppo winery, producing wine since 1892. Now in the fourth generation, the family still takes personal charge of the cultivation of the vines and the making of wine, right up to bottling.
In the mid 1980s, the Coppos were pioneers in the renaissance of Barbera d’Asti, as well as masters of the Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes, with which they make extraordinarily elegant spumantis. The cellars are unique: carved by hand out of the rock, they wind for 5,000 square metres up to 40 metres deep beneath the hill, and were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
Their attraction is undisputed, and the Coppo family is committed to preserving them. The tunnels are open every day for visits, after which several types of tastings experiences are available.
