Vigne dei Mastri
Vigne dei Mastri occupies five hectares in the municipality of Loreto in Costigliole d’Asti, on the border between the Langhe and Monferrato, where the soil is excellent for Barbera d’Asti. At 400 metres above sea level, the estate grows Barbera, Riesling Renano, Albarossa, Viognier and Merlot.
Founded in 2002, the family-run firm produces some 20,000 bottles a year: “We want to be an artisan producer of high-quality Barberas, not an industry”, say owners Paola Rapetto and Daniele Comba. Their philosophy demands that viticulture is combined with extreme concern for the environment, a principle that also guided the construction of their new winery, which is carved out beneath the hill and fuelled by geothermal and solar energy.
Vigne dei Mastri has a reception and tasting centre for visitors. Walks in the vineyards can be organised on request, offering breathtaking views over the vines and the ancient castles that dot the landscape.
