A gnome would sneak into the farmyard on a cart pulled by mice; he’d help with the field work and take care of the animals and the storeroom in exchange for a little wine. This little helper was a character in the stories told by Ernesto Saffirio to his daughter Josetta, and today he stars on the brand’s labels, drawn by Josetta herself, who began making wine from her family’s grapes in 1952, at just 23!
There weren’t many bottles, but they were wines of the highest quality, which led her to a place on the international wine scene’s honour roll. Today the business is in its fifth generation, and it continues to produce wines with ceaseless passion and commitment.
The family’s love for their land and their work, combined with the desire to share their world with enthusiasts, has led to the Adopt a Row scheme, an experience that brings wine lovers right into the vineyard to take charge of individual rows of vines, and culminates in the production of bottles with personalised labels.
