Daniele Pelassa

«In April 1950 I wasn’t yet ten years old. We were six siblings, our mother had died and our family was struggling. I realised the time had come to help out. One Monday morning I got up early, filled a few bottles with the new Nebbiolo, got on my bike and headed for Turin”. Ten years later, Mario Pelassa founded a winery in Montà d’Alba: a winery that is still family-run, with 15 hectares split between the hills of Roero and Verduno in the Langhe.

The estate is located in the hamlet of San Vito di Montà, which lends its name to the firm’s flagship Arneis. Careful selection of vines, new equipment and considerable investment in technology have improved the quality of the wines, and the winery has succeeded in addressing overseas markets thanks to the determination of sons Davide and Daniele.

The winery is a stone’s throw from the Rocche del Roero trekking route and the centre of Montà d’Alba, which will be home to the future Truffle Museum.
