Rivetto
The descendant of a family that has produced wine in the Langhe for four generations, in 2011 Enrico Rivetto introduced an organic change of direction, and since then his vineyards have been managed with “lucid madness” as he seeks to reestablish biodynamic balance. Between the rows he has planted trees and barley; he grows oats and clover and has installed bird nesting boxes.
Today the estate is home to more than a hundred fruit trees of hardy ancient species, old varieties of wheat, Turkey oaks, yews, maples, lindens, birches, horse chestnuts, persimmons, English oaks and walnuts. Veritable organic corridors in which wildlife and microorganisms can flourish. Rainwater is collected in a lake.
A walk in the vineyards is heartily recommended, to learn about the winery’s philosophy and gain a deeper understanding of the resulting wines. The story of Barolo, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Nascetta is one that’s worth telling: here they call it the “Rivetto Barolo Experience”.
